Ladakh is a land blessed by nature and the lakes in Ladakh are simply a case in point. There is something very awe-inspiring in the sight of the graceful blue waters reflecting the intensity of the clear skies set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains and sweeping plains.

1. Pangong Tso

Situated at a height of 4350 metres, Pangong Lake in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir is a worth appreciating lake. A 5-hour drive from Leh would help you reach this place which is said to be the third highest motorable mountain pass in the world.

Gala festival celebrated over here is very famous wherein a number of skiers and ice skaters from different parts of the world participate.

2. Tso Moriri Lake

Declared as the Wetland of International Importance in the year 2003, Tso Moriri Lake is situated at an altitude of 15,075 feet. The beauty of this place gets further intensified by a variety of bird species found over here.

There are mainly two routes to reach this place- Moore Plains and Changthang Valley. This lake is said to be the largest lake in the Ladakh region.

3. Kyun Tso and Ryul Tso

These two lakes are known to be the twin lakes in the awesome destination of Leh Ladakh. At an elevation of 5000 metres above the sea level, the deep blue surface of this lake shimmers as the sun rays fall on it. It portrays an altogether unique picture of nature which is really soothing.

4. Chagar Tso

On the route of Pangong Lake, you will come across yet another magnificent natural art of Chagar Tso. Heaven for the tourists who are bird lovers, a vast variety of migratory birds can be viewed at this particular place. This lake is known for its splendour beauty and positives vibes.

5. Lang Tso and Stat Tso

Located at the highest point of Zanskar region, Lang Tso and Stat Tso are the twin lakes in the Leh Ladakh area. The snow-capped hillocks surrounding this place give a stunning view of the lakes.

Known as one of the most admired lakes in Leh, the scenic beauty and the picturesque landscape are the highlights of this place.

6. Tso Kar Lake

Connected by a small stream, Tso Kar Lake is a superb art of nature. It is basically a twin lake wherein the western part of it is salty and the eastern part of this lake is full of fresh water. This lake in the Ladakh region is visited by a large number of patrons every year owing to its uniqueness and awesome concept per se.

7. Yarab Tso Lake

Located at a distance of 15 km from the Nubra Valley, Yarab Tso Lake is a splendid lake in the Ladakh region. This place is known to be a sacred place and the crystal clear water of this lake offer the barren surroundings majestically.

8. Mirpal Tso

Tranquillity and seclusion are the best words to describe Mirpal Tso Lake in the Leh Ladakh region. The bed of this lake is sandy while the southern end contains fresh water. It is very close to a place called Chusul. The winds blowing in this region will surely leave you spellbound.

9. Kiagar Tso

Located on the route to Tso Moriri Lake, Kiagar Tso is a striking place in the Changthang plateau of Leh region. The surrounding comprises of the nomadic tribes of Ladakh and a number of trekking halts. The dwellings of Chang Pass are also located near this landmark which makes this place a true attraction.

10. Nyak Tso

Nyak Tso is a small and delightful lake situated in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. Unfortunately, Nyak Tso does not fall within the Indian borders but falls in Tibet, 30 kilometres away from Rudog in Ladakh. Visiting Nyak Tso may turn into a complicated matter because of its border division, but if you can visit it, the lake will reward you with a very pleasant picture of natural beauty.
